Hey guys,

Happy New Year! Twenty-fifteen hey, how the hell did we get here so fast. Is it just me or does it feel like 2014 didn't even happen. I read somewhere that the more new years resolutions you make the more likely you are to feel overwhelmed and flake on them. Which makes sense. So I've had a think and have come up with 5 new years resolutions that i'm gonna try my hardest to stick to this year. In my head putting them in writing legitimises them and makes them a real thing I have to actually commit to so yeah, here we go.

1. Get out more.
I have this thing where going out places (parties, meals, peoples houses for a prolonged period of time, anywhere really) makes me incredibly jittery and feel nauseous, sometimes to the point of actually throwing up. I won't go into it as it's kind of personal but my goal this year is to overcome it. Whatever it is. It's been slowly getting a bit better but I feel 2015 is the year to nip it in the butt. Bye bye house hobo hello social butterfly!

2. Be spontaneous
I am a major micro manager. I love to plan things in advance and know exactly where i'm going and what i'm doing at what time and why. Do any of you feel like this? This year I wanna just go with the flow, roll with the punches, live in the moment. Call it what you will, it's happening.

3. Get my P's.
I'll explain what this means for all you non-Australians reading this. Over here you get your drivers licence in 4 stages. Your L's (Learners permit. You can get this when you turn 16), then your red P's, your green P's and finally your full licence. I'm currently on my L's and to complete them and move on to your P's, you have to drive 120 hours. I got my L's back in November and i've only driven 2/120 or something stupid. If I want to be ready for my P's test i'm gonna have to get a wriggle on.

4. Be serious about school.
This year i start year 11 which means i'm one short year away from sitting the HSC. I've always kind of just cruised through school doing the bare minimum to get me where i want to be but now it's time to pull my finger out. I want to actually do my homework this year, not hurriedly copy someone else's answers on the morning it's due. I've already got a head start with this one and have organised one day a week to go the the library with my friend who's having the same problem and study/complete assignments/do homework etc. I find it's always more effective to do these things with a friend for support.

5. Be healthy
A classic. Every single person every single year plans to become healthier. I don't want to lose weight I just want to live a healthier lifestyle and I plan to start by eating better. I don't mean going on crazy diets/cleanses or eating only salad and quinoa or anything like that, just making healthier choices. For example, instead of having a kilo of peanut butter on my toast every morning have something like vegemite and avocado or almond butter or something. I also plan to get fit and as motivation i'm paying for a gym membership out of my own money to push myself to go and not waste my $18 a week, even if it means only doing one class.

What do you reckon, will I stick them out or do you think i'll have forgotten about them by March like i usually do.

What are your new years resolutions for this year? Share them in the comments and we can all motivate each other like one big motivating family.

Ciao for now,
Alex xx

New Year, New Blog, New Me.

Hey guys,

As you are probably aware, I haven't blogged for pretty much over a year. I'm not sure why, I guess as an introverted 14 year old who was incredibly poor and to be brutally honest (sorry 14 year old me) didn't really have a life, the blogging opportunities were pretty much zip. But I like to think all that's changed. Now I'm 16 and i have a job and a life (a better one than old me at least) and i've been working on my confidence. My whole style, outlook on life and just overall mindset has changed as well, even my face has changed. I'm officially no longer a teenybopper girly girl. So with all that in mind I thought i might give this whole blogging thing another go.

Lets talk blog. I want to start over this whole thing. Give it a full makeover. Background, name, fonts, everything. I also want to change this to just a lifey-type blog, you know just blog about anything and everything, so a lifestyle blog i guess. I don't want to limit it to beauty or whatever and my inspiration dry up like it did last time so I think this is the best option. I'll just be posting photos from when I go out and recipes and inspirational quotes (every blogs gotta have 'em) and stuff.  Maybe even the occasional OOTD or FOTD. If you have any ideas let me know, I'd really appreciate the help!

To be perfectly honest, i'm not sure if this is going to work or not but i promise i'll try my best. I know last time i was super crappy at blogging regularly so i'm not going to commit to a certain day of the week to upload or anything like that just yet, i'll just blog when i have something to blog about for the moment. It's the summer holidays so posts shouldn't be too far between. I think my posts will be more interesting and not boring or forced this way.

That's all from me for now! I hope all of you, or at least some of you, stick with me. I know i'm not the best blogger in the world but i'm certainly trying. I have a few post ideas already so hopefully we'll talk again very soon. Don't forget to follow me on tumblr and instagram for more regular updates on my life and bloglovin' to be notified when I remember to post! (I know i know, shameless plug. it had to be done).

Ciao for now,
Alex xx

The 2013 Christmas Tag

Aaahh christmas, my favourite time of the year. The songs, weather, films, food, I just can't get enough of it! I was recently tagged by my good pal Alice to do this and I do love me a good Christmas tag so I'm just gonna jump right in!

1. Do you prefer a real Christmas tree or a synthetic one?
If it's a matter of preference then definitely a  real one but unfortunately the scent of a real Christmas tree really sets off me and my mums allergies so we have to get a synthetic one so we're not sneezing and wiping our watery eyes and runny noses all December long. I do love our tree though, it has built in lights! So cool!

2. You're in a coffee shop, it's December, what do you pick?
December where I live is insanely hot so probably some sort of iced tea or like a frappé or something. But in saying that, I can't pass up a good ol' gingerbread hot chocolate from Starbucks. They're too yummy!

3. Whats your favourite colour scheme for decorating the tree?
Personally I love silver, red and white but our tree is just full of random decorations that we've collected throughout the years which I also love. It gives a Christmas tree that personal touch. Me and my brother still have our first Christmas baubles with our names on them hanging on our tree that we got when we were but wee youngens freshly borned into the world! ;)

4. Giving or receiving?
I bloody love giving presents. I love thinking about what i'm gonna get everyone and then going out shopping for it and then wrapping it up really nicely and then seeing their reaction when they open it! It's so much fun! Although I certainly  won't say no to receiving presents that's for sure so I like both.

5. To mince pie or not to mince pie?
To mince pie. Always to mince pie.

6. What's your traditional Sunday lunch?
Well because it's quite hot in Australia on Christmas we tend to have a sitting of cold seafood first like prawns and crab and lobster and stuff and then later on for dinner we have the whole turkey, baked potatoes, salads all that kind of stuff. I eat so much I practically have to waddle away from the table!

7. Christmas Day fashion?
As I've said about a billion times in this post, it's a hot summers day on Christmas so I just wear a nice summer dress (usually white) with some sandals or heels, depending on the occasion, and a nice red lip to get in the festive spirit. The first half of Christmas Day is actually spent in my pyjamas but when it's time to go out to whoever's house Christmas is being held at that year this is what I usually get changed into.

8. What's your favourite Christmas song?
I have too many! My favourite favourites would have to be Sleigh Ride, All I Want For Christmas Is You, Justin Bieber's version of Santa Clause is Coming To Town and Christmas (Baby Please Come Home). My favourite Christmas album though is the Michael Buble one, listening to his voice feels like you're diving into a pool of hot melted chocolate. His wife is one lucky gal.

9. What's your favourite Christmas film?
I love Elf, The Polar Express, Home Alone, The Grinch, all of the Santa Clause series and Love Actually. The Snowman is also a childhood favourite of mine. You know what I just love all Christmas films.

10. Open presents before or after lunch?
Before! We open or presents as soon as we wake up!

I would like to tag everyone who's interested but specifically Rosie, AndreaJasmine and Sian.

What are you most looking forward to for Christmas? Let me know!

Pip pip!

Updates and A Chat!

Greetings!

I was originally going to write all of this at the end of my last post but it got a bit long and rambly so I decided to write it on it's own. It will probably still be quite long and rambly actually so you might want to go grab a cuppa or something to eat before we get going.

When in doubt, whack in a Disney photo

First of all how are you guys, are you good? I've been so busy lately I haven't asked! What's going on your lives at the moment, are you just simply trying to plow through school and exams and such like I am or have you got something special to share? Pop it below so we can all have chat and get to know each other and become one big happy family. You might make a few friends along the way!

Next I want to tell you what I have planned for my blog. I know you guys wanted me to write a post on my DOLLY 'modelling' experience, if you will, (ooer) with photos and stuff and don't worry, I haven't forgotten I'm working on that as we speak. I was just waiting for the DOLLY people to email through some photos and I got them this morning so expect that soon! It was also my birthday on Saturday and I wanted to ask you if you were interested in seeing a birthday haul? I know some of you love hauls so if you're interested in that let me know.

Lastly I wanna ask you guys a question. I recently got a 'big girl camera' (Canon 600D) and I was wondering if I should start a Youtube channel? I feel like it would be more personal as I could explain things to you guys better and you would be able to see my actual personality and stuff like that that can't be shown through a simple blog. If none of you guys are interested or won't watch/subscribe I won't bother but i'd really like to know what you think. Please please please let me know!

That's all for now! Talk to you guys soon! '

Top 5 Spring Nail Polishes

Greetings!

Aaahh here I am again apologising to you guys for my crap blogging. Blame it on my school they have literally been throwing assignments at us left right and centre and now exams are about to start up again, I just can't get away! Nonetheless I have made time to write (and not edit) this quick post for you guys so hopefully I can be forgiven. Let's jump straight in shall we!

L-R: Australis 'Sweet Pea', beindulged 'White', Topshop 'Peaches'n'Cream,' esscence 'Thats What I Mint', SinfulColors 'Unicorn'.
Australis Nail Colour in 'Sweet Pea':
Oh how I love this colour, I can only describe it as a seafoam green? I feel like this colour is perfect for this time of year when we're transitioning into summer but we're not quite there yet as it's such a vibrant pastel colour if that makes sense. I actually wore this to a wedding in late September and I got sooo many compliments so I highly recommend it.

beindulged Nail Polish in 'White':
This actual nail polish in itself is super crappy (you need four coats and it chips in one day) but I LOVE white nails. It makes you look so feminine and sophisticated! I haven't got much more to say about it really just that it's definitely perfect for spring. (Anybody know of a really good white nail polish? Let me know!)

Topshop Nail Polish in 'Peaches'n'Cream':
If any of you watch Zoella then i'm sure you're very familiar with this particular nail polish and I can totally see why Zoe adores it so much. Pastel orange is sooo cute for spring, I don't even know what makes it so appealing to me I just know that I love it (i'm really good at explaining things I know). Topshop nail polishes are really great as well, the formula is ace, there is literally every colour you can think of, it;s not streaky and there's only minor chipping after three days so if you're looking for a new nail polish Topshop is the place to go!

Essence Nail Polish in 'Thats What I Mint':
Nothing says spring more like the classic mint nails, am I right ladies? There's something about it that puts you in the mood for cute picnics in the park and long flowy skirts and fruit smoothies. Essence have absolutely hit the nail on the head with their nail polishes too. They're cheap ($1.95, BARGAIN!), there's loads of colours, they're not streaky, you only need one coat and they last aaagggeeesss without chipping. All of the names of their polishes are also really awesome puns you literally cannot go wrong here.

SinfulColors Nail Polish in 'Unicorn':
Last but not least, pastel yellow! I think any pastel colour is really lovely for the spring time but pastel yellow just makes me thinks of flowers and bumble bees. That is literally the reason that it's in my top 5.  Pastels are such classic spring colours I really don't think they need an explanation as to why they're spring favourites, haha!

Sorry this post isn't very good, my head is all over the place so i've done my very best. I'm planning on writing an update post to fill you guys in on all of my plans for this blog and we can all have a nice chat (I promise i'll actually write it I swear). As always, If you want to see something specific on here just pop it in the comments or tweet me or email me or whatever and i'll see what I can do! Sorry again for not posting in so long!

5 Tips On How To Nurse a Sunburn!

Greetings!

As the bittersweet days of sunburn are upon us (and I know this for a fact because i've been burnt three times already, once on the back of my knees! Killer.) I thought a few handy tips on how to bring yourself out of sunburn city would't go amiss! I have been burnt countless times so now, naturally, I see myself as a bit of a pro at sunburn treatment (hey now) and you can't go wrong with a few pro tips! Of course if we kept reapplying sunscreen throughout the day like we should, we wouldn't get ourselves into this sticky and extremely painful (and sometimes peely) situation but hey, sometimes it's inevitable, am I right! I deliberately put the word "nurse" in the title because I'm sure you all know (especially the Aussies out there, holla!) that when you get sunburnt, you literally have to nurse yourself back to health. So, without further ado, the tips!

Tip #1: Moisturise.
Yep. Moisturise. It's that simple! Just keep moisturising your whole body, concentrating a bit more on your 'area of impact' if you will, and you'll feel instantly better. The moisturiser will rehydrate your skin and eliminate the redness of it, hurrah!

Tip #2: Invest in some Aloe Vera Gel.
This stuff is the shit, if you pardon my language! It's super inexpensive and you can just pick it up at your local pharmacy and you keep it in the fridge and then when you're sunburnt, you grab some and just smear this all over the burn. Because it's cold it feels sooooooo good and relieves the pain too. The Aloe Vera also helps the healing but is more to ease the pain so make sure you still moisturise as well as do this.

Tip #3: Drink Plenty of Water.
When you're sunburnt, your body becomes very dehydrated as the sun has literally burnt you so it's important to keep up your fluids so you can rehydrate your skin and stop it from looking so red.

Tip #4: Keep Cool.
This one is purely for your comfort. When you become sunburnt, you automatically feel hot all the time and there's nothing worse then being in a hot place when you're already steaming, so, just stay inside for a few days, get in front of a fan and eat an ice block and I guarantee your mood will improve by about 70%.

Tip #5: Avoid The Sun at All Costs.
This one is a no brainer. Think about it, if you go in the sun while sunburnt, you're just going to burn over the top of your old burn and it will end up being one big painful sunburn sandwich and it won't be pretty. It can also start Melanoma, a form of skin cancer, which would be terrible if contracted. Now is the perfect time to bring out that new beach hat you bought the other day and a cute pair of sunnies, throw on a romper and to sit under a tree and read a book or whatever instead of baking it up in the sun with your mates.

Easy peasy lemon squeezy! If you follow these five incredibly professional tips I can guarantee you a fast and safe road to full recovery. As always I'm very interested to hear what you have to say so if you have one of your own secret tips to getting over that killer sunburn, help a mate out and leave it in the comments! Maybe yours will be the one that helps out the most instead of my rubbish ones! Haha!

OOTD #1 || A Boiling Brunch

Greetings!

This morning, me and my chummy Rosie from Regent-St went and had a lovely little brunch together and thought it would be a splendid idea to do a cheeky OOTD. Since this is my first, It might be a bit lousy but bare with me. Before we start I would also like to thank her for her photography, fanks a whole heap chummy!

My outfit was just a quick throw-together outfit to make it look like I'd put some effort into it when I actually hadn't. We all have those outfits, am I right? I wore this cropped white tee from Jays Jays and these peach crochet high waisted shorts from a little bohemian Sydney boutique called One Honney (they ship internationally if you're not from Australia and would like to pick up something from their store!)

To make my outfit a little more interesting, I wore this Sportsgirl daisy chain flower headband. I've really been loving this lately and have been wearing it all the time! I adore the effect cute flower crowns can have on an outfit,  I need to get my mitts on some more of these babies!

On my feet I wore my white high-top Converse (surprise surprise) and on my nails I had my new favourite nail polish, Essie's Mint Candy Apple! Isn't it gorgeous? The ring on my left hand (silver with a black stone) was a gifted to me so I don't actually know where it's from, from memory it might have been from a vintage store? On my right hand I had a gold ring with a small peach flower on it that came in a pack of three from Lovisa (that I can't find on their website, sorry!).

So, how did I go? I really like this outfit, it's so simple but looks quite put together. It was also cool enough for me to go out in on a 30 degree day and not melt and/or sweat to death which is always promising! As always, if you want to chat, have any recommendations or just want to say hello, pop them in the comments below and i'll get back to you ASAP. Make sure you follow Rosie's blog as well! She's just starting out and is doing such an amazing job. She definitely needs all of your amazing support so go over there and leave a comment on her recent blogpost saying that I sent you, it'll make her a happy gal.
